Introduction

Visions are the heart of FINAL FANTASY RESONANCE's customization. They are echoes of iconic Final Fantasy characters — Cloud, Y'shtola, the Warrior of Light, Terra and more — who join your party with unique skills and the ability to fight alongside you. You unlock Visions at shrines scattered across the world, each tied to a story montage of that character's home game and a knowledge quiz for longtime fans. Every Vision can be equipped to a party member, levels up independently, and can be switched during cutscenes and in battle. This hub covers the confirmed roster, shrine locations, leveling and loadout strategy, so you can build a party of Visions that covers every elemental weakness the game throws at you.

Vision Highlights

S

Cloud

The legendary SOLDIER from Final Fantasy VII.

RoleCloud brings thunder spells and hard-hitting physical attacks, making him a flexible attacker who can both build stagger and deal burst damage.
Best ForParties that need reliable elemental coverage plus physical pressure — his thunder skills handle water-aligned enemies effectively.
Pro TipPair Cloud with a support Vision so his offensive output stays consistent through long boss fights where MP pressure builds.
S

Y'shtola

The sorceress of Final Fantasy XIV.

RoleY'shtola brings water and healing spells to the party, combining sustain with elemental coverage in a single Vision.
Best ForTeams that want a healer who can still contribute damage — her water skills press fire-aligned enemies while she keeps the party topped up.
Pro TipRun Y'shtola alongside Fina for layered healing that lets you sustain through the toughest optional dungeons.
A

Warrior of Light

The hero of the original Final Fantasy.

RoleThe Warrior of Light is a balanced, iconic pick — reliable damage and defense that fits comfortably into almost any party composition.
Best ForPlayers who want a dependable all-rounder while they learn the Vision system, or parties that need light-element coverage.
Pro TipUse him as a flex slot — his balanced kit covers gaps when your other Visions are specialized.
A

Terra

The magic-infused heroine of Final Fantasy VI.

RoleTerra is a powerful spellcaster with fire magic and the highest raw magic damage among the confirmed Visions.
Best ForMagic-focused parties and fights against ice-aligned enemies, where her fire coverage shines.
Pro TipProtect Terra with Rain or the Warrior of Light — her glass-cannon output needs a sturdy front line to shine.
B

Zidane

The silver-tongued thief of Final Fantasy IX.

RoleZidane is a speed attacker who brings wind-element coverage and quick, agile skills that excel at building stagger on single targets.
Best ForPlayers who favor fast, aggressive playstyles — his speed lets you act frequently and press wind-weak enemies efficiently.
Pro TipPair Zidane with a healer Vision so his aggressive pressure does not leave the party exposed in longer fights.
B

Tidus

The star blitzball ace of Final Fantasy X.

RoleTidus brings water-element coverage and fast physical attacks, adding another speed-oriented option to the Vision roster.
Best ForTeams that want water coverage alongside Y'shtola, or a second speed attacker to rotate with Zidane.
Pro TipUse Tidus when facing fire-aligned enemies — his water skills are the most efficient way to press that weakness.
B

Shantotto

The diminutive but devastating mage of Final Fantasy XI.

RoleShantotto is a magic burst specialist who brings dark-element coverage and powerful burst spells for nuking staggered enemies.
Best ForMagic-focused teams that want a burst option to unload during the bonus phase, complementing Terra's sustained magic.
Pro TipTime her burst spells for the stagger window — her nukes multiply in value when an enemy is broken and defenseless.

Core Mechanics

The Visions system is built around shrines, equipment and independent progression. Vision shrines are scattered across the world, and each shrine unlocks a specific Vision — typically with a story montage celebrating that character's home game and a series knowledge quiz for longtime fans. Once unlocked, a Vision can be equipped to any party member and provides that character with the Vision's skills, elemental coverage and passive buffs. Each Vision levels up independently of your party, so investing in a Vision you use often pays off. Visions can be switched during cutscenes and even mid-battle, which means the right Vision swap at the right moment can turn a fight around.

Advantages

The Visions system is the game's most distinctive feature and a major draw for Final Fantasy fans. Seeing Cloud, Y'shtola, Terra and the Warrior of Light fight alongside your party is pure nostalgia, and their unique skills give real mechanical depth rather than just cameo value. Because each Vision brings a specific element and role, building your roster is a strategic layer on top of the party system — you choose Visions to cover elemental weaknesses and fill combat gaps. The shrine unlock structure also rewards exploration and series knowledge, giving completionists a clear set of goals beyond the main story.

Challenges

The biggest uncertainty is the roster itself. Only seven Visions are confirmed — Cloud, Y'shtola, the Warrior of Light, Terra, Zidane, Shantotto and Tidus — and the full list is not known before launch. Exact skills, passive buffs and leveling curves are based on preview impressions and official reveals, and may be rebalanced in the retail build. Vision shrine locations are also incomplete; we know shrines exist across the world but not every shrine's position has been confirmed. Until launch, treat the roster and abilities as a partial picture that will be completed with real gameplay data. We will fill these gaps as official announcements and real gameplay data arrive.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I unlock Visions?+
You unlock Visions by finding vision shrines located across the world. Each shrine is tied to a specific Vision and typically includes a story montage of that character's home game plus a knowledge quiz about the series. Confirmed Visions include Cloud, Y'shtola, the Warrior of Light, Terra, Zidane, Shantotto and Tidus, and we expect more to be revealed closer to launch. Shrine locations are being mapped as official information and previews confirm them.
Can I equip any Vision to any character?+
Yes. Visions can be equipped to any party member, and each party member has Vision slots. The Vision provides its skills, elemental coverage and passive buffs to the character who wears it, which means you can build a wide variety of party compositions by swapping Visions between characters. Because Visions can be switched during cutscenes and battles, you can also adapt your loadout on the fly to the fight you are facing.
Do Visions level up separately from my party?+
Yes, each Vision has its own independent progression. A Vision you use frequently will outpace one you rarely equip, so it is worth investing in a core roster of Visions rather than spreading your resources thinly. Leveling unlocks and improves the Vision's skills and passive buffs, which is why a well-leveled Vision can dramatically change how strong a character feels in battle.
Which Vision is the best?+
Cloud and Y'shtola are the strongest all-rounders among the confirmed Visions — Cloud for physical damage and thunder coverage, Y'shtola for healing and water spells. The Warrior of Light is the best balanced pick, and Terra offers the highest raw magic damage. Because team synergy matters, the "best" Vision depends on your party composition and the fights you are facing, so our tier list pages break down each pick in context.

Quick Tips

💡

Build a roster that covers every element before you commit to leveling. Thunder, water, fire, light, wind and dark coverage lets you press weaknesses in any region of the overworld. Elemental coverage is the single most important factor in building a strong Vision roster. A Vision that covers a missing element is worth more than a slightly stronger Vision that duplicates one you already have.

💡

Switch Visions mid-battle when the matchup calls for it. A Vision that struggles in one fight can be swapped for one that covers the enemy's weakness, turning a bad matchup into an advantage. Keeping a flexible roster of leveled Visions means you always have the right answer for the next fight.

💡

Level a small core of Visions rather than all of them. Independent progression means focused investment pays off far more than spreading your Vision experience thin across the whole roster. Focused investment also makes each Vision feel meaningfully stronger as its skills improve. A small set of high-level Visions beats a large pool of under-leveled ones in every difficult fight.
